About me

ALL 4 on big screen and mobile
All 4 for Channel 4, 2016-Current

I currently lead and manage the UX team for All 4, the video on demand service for Channel 4

I’m responsible for portfolio management and output of work across all platforms that the service is on: Website, big screen devices, iOS and Android phones and tablets.

When I started in this role the team consisted of five siloed contractors embedded in development teams with lead / management duties either falling to the Head of Product or Project Managers in those teams.

Today the team numbers ten, made up of five full time in-house employees who I hired and line-manage, and five contractors, some remote.

I have created roles and levels within in the team that allows team members to develop their careers and provides an underserved entry point for junior UX designers. The make-up of my team means I work day-to-day with designers with a range of skills and experience.

Involved in a range of high-profile and business-sensitive projects with teams in Europe and the US across all platforms and devices – web, tablet, big screen and mobile working with business leaders, product managers, development teams and external agencies to solve complex user-journey problems from concept to completion.

Initiated and led a pioneering and international user-testing project for the department, the results of which informed development across the entire Amazon Instant Video business.

The Guardian
The Guardian, 2000-2012

At The Guardian I spent over a decade at the forefront of Guardian News & Media’s design team as the business transitioned from being a successful UK print publication to one of the world’s leading and innovative news websites. Originally employed as a web designer, the role evolved and expanded over the years to incorporate leading design teams, including freelance designers and illustrators, before being charged with designing Guardian News and Media’s high-profile digital projects.
